Bella's Blog

I am currently living in Salt Lake City Utah, exploring the city by foot and spending time in the Wasatch Mountains.

I recently quit a job that burned me out so I am recovering by spending time in silence, solitude, and occasionally getting much-needed socialization and fun. Meetups with like-minded people, pickelball, and discovering new local spots. Almost no podcasts anymore since I've listened to countless hours of episodes over four years. I also run in my neighborhood, do stretching, and sing.

I have been writing blog posts for about a year now off and on, documenting what I learn and experience here in Utah. And what I've learned before and how it relates to now. Marketing, sales, online business, accelerated-learning, language learning, copywriting, sustainable living practices, online writing. I started the blog originally because I was going to start a business focused on coaching learners in accelerated-learning strategies, but now I blog about the learning process without a business in mind.

Projects I've Finished: I created a Wiser Media profile to share recommendations of what to read and listen to [as well as for myself, to keep as a reference when I learn]. It took a while but I wanted a more personalized platform than Pinterest [there, I also share articles and podcast episodes I've liked]. I read and saved articles from various sites as well as re-read articles on accelerated-learning to refresh my memory for a future learning project [which I saved onto Pinterest and Wiser].

I updated the Notion document that contains all the quotes and lyrics from media I've consumed, as well as podcast episodes I've enjoyed the most. So far, I've been adding to this list for two years.

Read a little of the book "The Art and Business of Online Writing" which gave me a good start of how to go about writing online. I need to apply what I learned instead of reading more and never acting on it.

I was reading about existentialist philosophy [Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Soren Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche etc...] because I find the philosophy resonates with me and it's a good way to rebel against so many hours of Aristotelian philosophy and 'essentialism' that has been taught to me through my catholic school experience. I like that, instead of discovering ourselves and "finding our purpose" that has been given to us, we get to create our own purpose every minute of the day. In turn, that gives humans, like myself, overwhelming freedom [which is probably why the philosophy isn't so popular].

Media I've Finished: "Tired As F*ck" by Caroline Dooner [book], "Nothing Personal" by Nancy Jo Sales [book], "The Shallows: What The Internet is Doing To Our Brains" by Nicholas Carr [book], London Grammar [band], "Young and Beautiful" [film], "Poor Things" [film], Adieu Aru [artist]

Books I'm Reading: "The Absolutesā€ by Molly Dektar

Current Projects: job-hunting

What I Do On The Regular: I digitally detox, audio journal, take notes and log quotes from current books and past podcasts, update my Letterboxd profile, & write 'I Did' lists each month
